Do you have experience in and enjoy providing excellent customer service, assisting with the smooth running of a range of facilities in a diverse environment? Are you proactive and an excellent communicator? If so, please read on. We have a vacancy for a part time Facilities Assistant within Estates and Facilities based at the John Bull Building, Plymouth Science Park, Derriford. Under the direction of a Senior Facilities Assistant, you will ensure that facilities within buildings run efficiently and safely for students, staff and visitors. Specific duties consist of both routine and responsive services including deliveries, waste/recycling, minor repairs, patrolling, use of security access systems, alarm monitoring/response along with the use of a University radio. You will need to be a good communicator with excellent prioritisation skills, strong attention to detail who is flexible, pragmatic and proactive. You will possess the ability to accurately record information and write clear and concise reports. You will need to be able to use your initiative and make quick decisions, sometimes in difficult situations. It is essential that you have good IT skills, sound working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, and a general aptitude for working with technical equipment to be able to adapt to using new software and systems. You will have a sound awareness of health and safety matters including risk assessment and manual handling and, due to the nature of the work, this appointment will be subject to satisfactory medical screening. This is a part time position working 25 hours per week, 15:00-20:00 Monday to Friday on a permanent basis. You will be required to be flexible with your hours of work to meet the needs of the service which may involve occasional weekend duties. A uniform will be provided. A current full driving licence (manual transmission) is essential as you will be driving University of Plymouth vehicles. This role is also subject to health surveillance with our Occupational Health team.
